Of course Jobs is right. He’s been burned once already by being too overtly proprietary in his approach (the old Mac OS and hardware standards). But now that he’s put the Apple genius back in business in making UNIX his “Apple” core, he has decided to break bread with the universal standards HTML crowd. Making Adobe just another third party player now it seems. The computing world continues to race towards an oblivion no one can quite fathom except to snatch a glimpse from the science fiction culture, but one thing is for certain, Steve Jobs is probably the most reliable voice in the digital wilderness the world has ever put on top its desk. I remember Adobe fondly, as an Apple-pliant vendor of great software. In those former days we anticipated in sheer delight all that free overnight delivery bringing the wonderfully designed boxes with wonderfully designed books and wonderfully designed software disks inside.
